Automating News Ingestion
Automating content ingest for a major broadcaster with secure integration and scalable, low-code workflows.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
A major news broadcaster sought to streamline and modernize its content ingestion process to handle the increasing volume and speed of global news coverage. The organization required an automated solution that could seamlessly integrate with its existing on-premise infrastructure while maintaining the highest standards of security and reliability. The goal was to reduce manual workload, minimize errors, and free up editorial teams to focus on content creation.
The challenge
In today’s fast-paced media environment, the organization faced growing pressure to ingest content quickly from a wide array of global news agencies. Previously, this was a manual, time-intensive task requiring staff to individually download and process files and metadata from dozens of sources. The inefficiencies in this process made it difficult to meet publishing deadlines and introduced a high risk of human error.
In addition to automation, the solution needed to integrate with the organization's existing on-premise Telestream Vantage media asset management system. Security was another critical factor, as the content being handled was sensitive and often under embargo.
The solution
The organization partnered with qibb to automate the end-to-end process of news agency content ingestion. Using qibb’s low-code media workflow platform, the team was able to design and deploy custom workflows that automatically retrieve and transfer files and metadata from more than 50 news agencies. The solution automates file transfers—including XML and video assets—securely collecting content from both SFTP and FTP servers and delivering them directly to designated Vantage Ingest watchfolders within the Telestream Vantage system.
Benefits
-
Automated Ingest from Over 50 News Agencies – The solution replaced manual processes with automated workflows, significantly reducing time and effort while increasing throughput.
-
Independent Workflow Development – The internal engineering team was empowered to build and modify qibb Flows independently, without requiring external development support.
-
Hybrid Deployment Flexibility – qibb’s platform supported both cloud and on-premise components, aligning with the organization’s existing infrastructure and security policies.
By implementing qibb’s automation capabilities, the news provider significantly boosted its operational efficiency and reduced the potential for ingest-related errors. Staff time previously spent on manual content handling is now redirected toward higher-value editorial and production tasks—accelerating delivery timelines and enhancing the overall quality of news output.
